England’s Journey
As hosts, England carried huge expectations in Euro 1996. Their megabetauto campaign started with a draw against Switzerland, creating pressure early on. However, England bounced back with a historic 2–0 win over Scotland, remembered for Paul Gascoigne’s brilliant goal. In their final group match, England defeated the Netherlands 4–1, a performance that raised hopes of victory. In the quarterfinal, they beat Spain on penalties after a goalless draw. Unfortunately, England’s journey ended in heartbreak when they lost to Germany in the semifinals, again on penalties. Despite the disappointment, England’s spirited run remains unforgettable.
